About the Society
   
  Archaeological Society of Sri Lanka was established in March 1966 by a group of scholars who were interested about the history and archaeology of Sri Lanka.
   
  The society's membership is open to any one people who are interested about the history, archaeology and culture of Sri Lanka. The membership by the end of 2008 was around 525.
   
  Objectives of the Society
 
   
The objective of the Archaeological Society of Sri Lanka include, conducting of lectures, conferences, exhibitions, conducting researches, Publishing various publications on the archaeology, history and culture of Sri Lanka and taking necessary action for the development of the subjects of Archaeology, history and culture and keeping relevant international co-operations.

Conducting and organizing Conferences, Exhibitions, and Study tours etc. A Conference and an Exhibition was held in 2006 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Society.
